The Branford House is located in Groton, Connecticut on the campus of UConn Avery Point, which rents it out for events. Branford House was built in 1902 for Morton Freeman Plant, a local financier and philanthropist, as his summer home; he named it after his hometown of Branford, Connecticut. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 23, 1984. The Branford House wedding era began in 2001 when UConn renovated this CT mansion wedding venue and started renting it out as an event space.

Just behind the mansion is a long patio which is great for mingling or even dancing. This one is partially covered, making it a great location to exchange vows for more intimate weddings. The Athletic Center is open to UConn students, faculty, and staff. The gym and pool are used by our athletic teams, as well as some local teams and leagues. The Center is also available to rent for parties and private events. The Academic Building houses Avery Point's campus bookstore, auditorium, classrooms, and faculty offices.

For events hosting more than 200 guests, Branford House staff suggests a tent on the lawn. Tented receptions on the lawn of the Branford House are simply breathtaking. Around the side of the mansion is a terrace area with stone columns that is great for family or bridal portraits when the light is good.
